Thank Me Later – Link Episodes on OTT Series

For years, I’ve enjoyed sending free, no-strings-attached ideas to companies in various sectors; a practice I called, “RattL ’em”; and subsequently, “…thank me later.” Just a small way of contributing to customer-centric innovation and striving to be among the best.

Here’s an idea for OTT platforms that create original series:
Many web series today feel unnecessarily stretched. The phrase ‘it could have been an email’ keeps coming to mind. They could have easily been movies with tighter editing. However, there are many series that keep viewers hooked.

In some instances, a character appears briefly in one episode and is referenced in another, sometimes even in a different season. And there’s a good chance that while the name might sound familiar, we have lost the context of that character and the current reference. What OTT platforms could do to enhance engagement is offer viewers a quick link, somewhat like YouTube’s related video suggestions. It would allow re-watching the episode where that character last appeared, then return to their current spot. This could boost viewing time as well as viewer connection with the series and possibly the OTT. And if you think it’s not possible, you should check out some of the interactive content on platforms like Netflix.
